BIO:
La Dispute was formed in the summer of 2004 inspired by the collective notion that each member enjoys the following things immensely: listening to music, playing music, and writing music. Additionally, these members (old friends, new friends, family, schoolmates) feel utterly incapable of achieving any level of contentment doing anything other than what they are currently doing, at least for the present time, and thus the arrangement was and is, in a sense, default. As far as the music goes, La Dispute feels that art is best presented as challenging in each of its aspects and, as a result, struggles to create music with both technical and thematic depth while trying desperately to not sound obnoxious or juvenile. Most importantly, La Dispute enjoys their surroundings and, as is generally the case, draws the majority of their influences from things that are around them throughout the course of a day; things like people, other bands, books, religion, each other and the like. Drawing on those things, La Dispute wrote, recorded, and released their first album, Vancouver, on Friction Records, and are very proud of each and every note. Furthermore, they practice in a hardware store warehouse and, as a general rule, truly enjoy each others presence, as well as hardware. Come say hello to them sometime.

"Aggressive post-hardcore music hasn't had an original voice in a long time. Not in as long as there have been bands content to have singers who get them on MTV by sounding exactly the same. That's not La Dispute. From beginning to end their vocalist sounds like he's teetering dangerously close to the edge, candidly and clearly expressing his fears and faults without resorting to meathead meltdowns or pop-friendly choruses. Appropriately, the band rides just as dangerously on the cymbals, letting its crashes control their bouts of guitar tension." - Eric Mitts, Recoil
